Overview

Epworth offers comprehensive cancer services at all four major hospitals: Epworth Eastern, Epworth Freemasons, Epworth Geelong and Epworth Richmond. This includes specialist wards, day oncology facilities, radiation oncology and palliative care.

More than 40 Epworth-accredited oncologists, surgical oncologists and radiation oncologists practise at Epworth.

Epworth employs a holistic caring approach, treating our patients as people and not just treating the illness. Our Wig Salons allows our oncology patients free access to wigs and a styling session.

This service is made possible by the generosity of our Epworth Medical Foundation donors and is available at Epworth Eastern, Epworth Freemasons and Epworth Geelong.

Rehabilitation programs are also available at Epworth Camberwell, Epworth Geelong and Epworth Hawthorn. Our rehabilitation programs are here to support people with all forms of cancer, at any stage of diagnosis, treatment or recovery through exercise and education.

One in four Australians will contract cancer at some point in their life. However, a diagnosis today can be defined as more of an illness requiring regular monitoring.

Regular monitoring includes regular medical check-ups and potential treatment at intervals, with the aim of restoring health, happiness and quality of life.

Day Patient Services

The Epworth Freemasons Day Oncology Unit was established in 1991 and has grown into a comprehensive, modern facility treating approximately 400 patients per month.

The unit offers 17 reclining chairs for patients preferring a social, relaxed atmosphere as well as private rooms containing state-of-the-art electric beds. Due to the limited number of private rooms, rooms are allocated on a priority needs basis at nursing staffs discretion.

A team of friendly volunteers serve drinks and lunch throughout the day to make our patients stay more comfortable.

While a large percentage of the units output is chemotherapy administration, the unit does not restrict its offerings. Any treatment or infusion which can be safely given in a daycare setting is welcomed by our highly skilled nursing staff. Onsite pharmacy, pathology, radiology and radiotherapy departments place Freemasons in a unique position to coordinate treatment for patients requiring investigations and multiple treatment modalities.

Our reception staff are happy to assist with any queries you may have in regards to your health insurance policy. Day Oncology now has EFTPOS facilities to assist patients with their health fund expenses as payments are dequired on day of admission.

Day Oncology offers patients car parking in the basement for a competitive flat rate. Located in the Epworth Freemasons Medical Centre at Victoria Parade, car parking tickets must be authorised for this rate to apply.

Day Oncology also provides transport between hospital sites for patients if they are undergoing concurrent radiotherapy or require additional radiology services or hospital admission.
