General Surgery at Epworth Eastern consists of two 30-bed Units specialising in multiple disciplines as well as catering for patients requiring general surgery.
Management of numerous diseases is offered within this clinical specialty, including diseases of the:
- Anus
- Bowels
- Colon
- Intestine
- Rectum
Management of functional disorders and malignancy is also offered within this clinical specialty, along with colonoscopy's and stomal surgery.

A stomal therapy nurse is employed and the unit has the full support of both the Day Surgery Unit and the Operating Suite. Intensive care is also available when medically required.
