  • any doctor’s letters or recent test results relevant to your medical condition
  • your current medications, or a medication list
  • identification, such as a driver’s licence or passport
  • Medicare card
  • health care card / pension card / DVA card
  • private health insurance card
  • mobile phone and charger – to keep in touch with friends and family.

Medical emergencies are unpredictable and unplanned. They can also be very stressful for patients and their loved ones.

We understand you want your health concerns dealt with quickly and expertly, by experienced emergency doctors.

We know you expect access to quality emergency treatment, comprehensive diagnostic facilities and specialist referral.

We recognise your loved ones want to be involved in your care and informed about your progress.

Whether you are admitted to hospital, or discharged to the comfort of your own home, at Epworth, every patient matters.

When sporting injuries happen, you want quick answers and the best treatment so you can get back out on the field again. We’ll ensure excellent care even after you leave emergency, with our access to a wide variety of private specialist services, including orthopaedics and sports medicine.

For Families and Visitors

We have had to limit visitor numbers in both the Emergency Department and waiting room, to keep everyone safe from infection. See latest COVID-19 information.

We encourage our patients to keep in touch with their families throughout their time with us, and welcome family members and friends to assist with your comfort needs. We need to limit visitor movement through the department, and ask that you follow staff directions.

Visitors are asked to respect the privacy of all patients in the Emergency Department, and understand that we will not give confidential information over the phone to callers.

 

Epworth Richmond Emergency Department

Epworth Richmond's emergency department treats more patients than any other private hospital emergency department in Victoria, caring for over 29,200 adults and children annually. It is staffed by a team of experienced doctors and nurses 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The emergency department assesses and treats people with serious injuries and those in need of emergency treatment.

  • 31 private treatment spaces
  • 4 fast-track chairs for acute and easily treated injuries
  • 2 resuscitation bays
  • 2 isolation rooms
  • a paediatric area
  • direct under cover access for up to 4 Ambulance and 2 MICA (mobile intensive care ambulance) vehicles

Epworth Geelong Emergency Department

An expert team of doctors and nurses provide comprehensive emergency treatment and care at Epworth Geelong. Patients have direct access to diagnostic services, theatres and a wide range of on-call specialists and referral services.

Our emergency department treatment spaces are designed to provide privacy while reducing outside noise. All treatment spaces feature solid walls and have their own TVs.

  • 4 fast-track chairs for acute and easily treated injuries
  • 2 resuscitation bays
  • 1 isolation room for infectious diseases
  • car parking for up to 6 Ambulance and 2 MICA (mobile intensive care ambulance) vehicles)
