Associate Professor Siven Seevanayagam is a senior consultant cardiac & thoracic surgeon based in Victoria, Australia. Having graduated with honours from Monash University Medical School in 1990, he undertook his residency at the Austin & Repatriation Medical Centre and then went onto undertake advanced training in General Surgery, followed by advanced training in Cardiothoracic Surgery and obtained the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.He is the senior consultant cardiac and thoracic surgery at Austin Health in Melbourne. In cardiac surgery his special interests include: total arterial revascularization in coronary artery bypass graft surgery, all forms of valve repairs and replacements, aortic surgery, and thoracoscopic epicardial ablation for atrial fibrillation.He is well known for his expertise in complex thoracic surgical procedures including: extended pulmonary resections and lung sparing complex bronchoplastic and vascular sleeve resections in patients with locally advanced lung cancers,mediastinal tumours, airway tumours , and airway stenting and management of aerodigestive fistulae.
