About

Dr Walland is a senior eye surgeon in private practice in Melbourne, with a public appointment as consultant ophthalmic surgeon in Glaucoma at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital.

He has particular interests in cataract and glaucoma surgery, including the use of premium implants to optimise optical outcomes from lens surgery, as well as extensive experience in complex glaucoma surgery, including trabeculectomy, tube implantation, cyclodiode laser and MIGS surgery in the form of iStents.

He is actively involved in the training of future ophthalmologists; contributes publications and invited editorials to the scientific literature; regularly presents at scientific meetings; and is a reviewer for several medical journals. He was a Glaucoma Section Editor for the journal Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, and a Fellowship examiner each for a decade and was Chairman of Trainee Selection and RANZCO Chairman of the Qualification and Education Committee in Victoria for 6 years.
