Overview
In this session Dr Amy Feng, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with subspecialty training in advanced laparoscopic surgery (AGES Fellowship), will discuss Per Vaginal (PV) bleeding across the lifespan in the context of general practice providing an insight into the presentation, investigations and tests to order, initial management, and when referral to a specialist is recommended. The presentation will include case studies and the opportunity for Q&A. It is hoped the session will provide GPs with an easy to use framework to approach PV bleeding at different age groups.
Learning Outcomes
- Review the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis and how it relates to normal and abnormal bleeding.
- Explain the relevant causes, appropriate investigations and management options for PV bleeding in teenagers, women in reproductive years, women who are peri-menopausal, and women who are post-menopausal.
