Dr Sally Liang James is a dedicated, approachable female gastroenterologist with over a decade of extensive experience in all areas of complex gastroenterology. She recognises the importance of the therapeutic relationship in holistic medical management. She enjoys the challenges of diagnosing and treating a large range of gastrointestinal disorders, encompassing cancer, inflammatory bowel and coeliac diseases, and the full spectrum of functional gut disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome. Sally is passionate about health promotion, patient collaboration and cancer screening, and encourages patients to be proactive in their own health care. She works closely with other specialists in all fields, and is keenly up to date with new and innovative research. She trained at St Vincents and Concord Hospital Sydney and was awarded her doctoral thesis entitled Dietary Fibre and FODMAPs in Inflammatory Bowel Disease in 2010. Sally is involved in research and education, has publications in prestigious local and international journals (namely Internal Medicine Journal and Gut), tutors undergraduates and Advanced Trainees and is a regular supervisor for Endoscopic Training for physicians, surgeons and nurse endoscopists.
