This program enables you to grow, develop and succeed by enhancing your nursing practice in the specialty of perioperative nursing.
Entry requirements
- Current registered or enrolled nurse with Ahpra.
- Minimum 12 months recent acute care experience.
- Permanent contract, minimum 0.6 EFT to full time (site dependent).
- New to the perioperative environment.
- Novice RN in the scrub/scout, anaesthetic or PACU stream OR novice EN in scrub/scout or anaesthetics stream.

Duration
- 12 month program, incorporating a supported educational program.
Structure
Delivered in a blended learning method, four study days are facilitated by perioperative clinical educators, meeting the specific theoretical and practical perioperative nursing requirements. This program includes pre-reading elements and online study to facilitate optimal learning.
You have access to guided supervision and support from clinical educators and preceptors in a theatre environment, ensuring 1:1 support when required.
Recognition of prior learning
This program provides a priority pathway into a Graduate Certificate in Perioperative Nursing.
Upon successful completion of this program, followed by a consolidation year in theatre, you may be eligible for an Epworth targeted scholarship.
