About

Mr Anuruthran (Rudy) Ambikaipalan is a Victorian trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with post fellowship training in Spine, Hip and Trauma Surgery.

He has a keen interest in musculoskeletal medicine, commencing his professional career as a Physiotherapist before moving into Medicine and sub-specialising in Orthopaedic Surgery. During his training he developed an affiliation for trauma, hip and spine surgery and his focus continues to be in the management of degenerative disease of the hip & spine, deformity correction and general orthopaedic trauma.

During his fellowships at Royal Melbourne Hospital, Epworth Hospital and Royal Perth Hospital, he expanded his experience in the management of multi-trauma patient care, degenerative spine disease and deformity correction including scoliosis and spine trauma.

He currently holds a public appointment as a Consultant Orthopaedic and Spine surgeon at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he is actively involved in teaching and training junior surgeons and resident medical staff.

He is dedicated to providing safe, holistic patient care and developing new approaches to treating complex surgical conditions through research, advanced technology and clinical development, while maintaining a focus on improving healthcare outcomes for all of his patients.
