About
Dr Soong Chua is an orthopaedic surgeon based in Melbourne, part of the esteemed group at OrthoSport Victoria. He is renowned for expertise in arthroscopic and reconstructive procedures of the shoulder, knee, and elbow. Dr Chua excels in performing robotic knee replacements, shoulder replacements and rotator cuff repairs.
Utilising the newest technology, Dr. Chua incorporates techniques such as robotic surgery, 3D planning, mixed reality and bone grafting to address complex orthopaedic conditions.
A Melbourne native, Dr Chua completed his medical studies at the University of Melbourne and Austin Health, before obtaining his fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. International experience in London and Milan further enriched his practice, allowing him to collaborate with world-renowned experts, treating professional athletes across various sports disciplines.
Dr Chua remains actively involved in teaching and training as the Head of Orthopaedic Unit 2 at Austin Health, and as a lecturer for the AOA Orthopaedic ‘Bone School’ training program.
Additionally, he is the current president of the Victorian Shoulder and Elbow Society (VSES), has served as the ANZ chair for international courses, and is a reviewer for multiple prestigious journals in the field, including the American Journal of Sports Medicine.
Outside of his professional endeavours, Dr Chua finds joy in family life with his wife and three children. His interests extend to golf, cricket, and supporting the Hawks.
