Celebrating the launch of the Epworth Centenary Fund

The 2018 Epworth Gala Ball, held on Saturday 4 August, proved the perfect arena to officially launch the Epworth Centenary Fund.

As Epworth prepares to celebrate providing 100 years of care in 2020, the Epworth Centenary Fund is our most ambitious fundraising campaign to date.

The Fund will see $50million of endowed funds used to ensure that the same level of exceptional patient care will be provided to Victorians for a further 100 years and beyond through the development of further innovation in education, research and patient support programs in perpetuity.

The Epworth Board of Management have agreed to match every dollar raised for the Centenary Fund including the money raised at the gala event, doubling the net profit on the night.

Epworth Medical Foundation Executive Director, Scott Bulger said “with the support of the Epworth Board, a total of $3.8million was raised on the night that will be used towards the Centenary Fund for innovative projects at Epworth in perpetuity.

A number of attendees pledged $10,000 or more towards the Fund including a very generous $100,000 pledge from a donor couple celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on the night. Guests also led a standing ovation for a generous donor who pledged $1milllion through his personal foundation.

Hosted by Master of Ceremonies entertainer Tim Campbell, 1200 guests dined and danced in the Palladium Ballroom at Crown to raise funds for the Fund while enjoying chart topping hits from across the decades to the theme Epworth goes Platinum.

The event was organised by the Epworth Medical Foundation together with the Epworth Special Events Committee chaired by Mrs Cathi Biddick AM and supported by major sponsor Medownick Laser Clinic as well as 45 corporate sponsors.
