Dr Henderson (pictured) accepted the position at Epworth in late October and subsequently resigned from his CEO position at St John of God (SJG) Subiaco and Executive Director, Perth Northern Hospitals (Midland Public and Private, Mt Lawley and Wembley Day Surgery).

Dr Henderson said he was delighted to begin 2017 in his new role in Melbourne.

"I am thrilled to be here and look forward to developing the future strategy along with the Board, Epworth Executive, staff and doctors. The focus on quality patient care and staff satisfaction will continue to be our priority," Dr Henderson said.

President of Epworth HealthCare Board Rod Fitzroy said Dr Henderson has more than 25 years; experience in the healthcare industry, the last 15 in Executive roles in the private & not for profits and public sectors.

"Dr Henderson brings a wealth of experience across a range of health care roles that he has executed with distinction over the past 25 years including as CEO St John of God Pathology (2011 to 2013) and formerly the Group Director Medical Services and Strategy, SJG.

"His broad experience encompasses working as a medical practitioner and GP for more than a decade in full-time private practice," Mr Fitzroy said.

"Since 2013 he has successfully run the largest and most complex region of the St John of God Health Care group in WA, with multi-site and multi-disciplinary responsibility, including more than 1,200 beds, around 4,500 staff and budgets exceeding $600 million.
