Epworth Richmond Pain Service (formerly Acute Pain Service)
The Epworth Richmond Pain Service provides reassurance to patients and their loved ones with regards to managing their pain.
Epworth Richmond is the first Private Hospital in Victoria to provide a Pain Service which is based on the model of care that is found in most public hospitals.
The service is coordinated by a senior nurse and has Pain Specialists and Anaesthetists on the team.
During your hospital stay, your doctors may refer you to the Epworth Pain Service who will work with you, your doctors and other health professionals to assist in managing your pain and your recovery.
The Epworth Pain Service aims is to assist in managing your pain to get you home or to rehabilitation faster, so that you can return to your loved ones and normal life as quickly as possible.
Once you are referred to the Epworth Pain Service the team will see you on a regular basis to assess and ensure your recovery is on track, that there are minimal side effects of any pain management interventions and if required make any necessary changes.
The Epworth Richmond Pain Service uses a holistic approach which extends beyond pharmaceutical treatments (medication) and can include education, psychology and non-pharmacological methods such as mindfulness.
If required, the Epworth Pain Service can refer you to the Epworth Pain Program (Richmond or Camberwell) or a Pain Specialist in the community for ongoing care. The Epworth Pain Program is run at our Epworth rehabilitation sites and can assist with long term pain management.
